I put my bed below and use the top bunk as shelving over my bed. Upon assembly I left out the front railing for easy access to items. With a normal bed frame below, there is a fair clearance for your head when sitting up under the top bunk. Table is useful for TV remotes, drinks, books, etc. Perfect for what I am using it for. I do not use the later yet that is important to instal upon assembly for structure. Love, love, love it!
