I bought this to keep curious kiddos away from our firearms while at the same time being able to be accessed quickly if needed. This safe is perfect for that.
It was delivered via FedEx and they treated this thing very poorly. When I lifted it to carry it into my house the bottom was already torn to shreds and the safe was sliding out. Most of the rest of the exterior seemed to take a beating during shipping too; especially the edges and corners. But to my surprise the only cosmetic scuff was on the very bottom of the safe. Its hardly noticeable and it ends up being hidden by the placement of my safe anyways. The foam packaging did its job!
It looks like they reinforced the frame where the door bolts lock inside the frame with additional metal pieces. After its bolted down (and it MUST be bolted down) is very sturdy. But while I was bolting it down in a very dark corner of my home, I had a very bright work light shining on it from the outside while I was inside putting the bolts in. Thats when I noticed the light coming in through a poor weld at the very bottom of the safe about an inch long. It wasnt much, but it was very noticeable. I dont think this affects the sturdiness of the safe as my wall and floor will be ripped to shreds before that weld ever comes undone. And once I put the foam flooring back in, it wasnt noticeable.
I was really concerned about the length of the passcode since it can be very insecure if its only 3 digits long (64 possible combinations). But it turns out you can have an 8/digit code (65536 possible combinations). Thats great because I dont plan on using that passcode at all, so I just had a random number generator make a passcode for me and I can forget about it so the kiddos certainly cant guess it either. The fingerprint reader is pretty reliable, and fast. Im confident it wont accept any false positives and has only rarely rejected my fingerprints. Just make sure to register the same finger from different angles and you should be OK.
I had questions about the warranty and sent an e/mail to the support contact. I got a response in about an hour! Great support! Simple to put together.
Perfect for its purpose!
