The wrought iron bed came in a box, assembly is required, but fairly easy to put together, maybe 2 to 3 hours. I did not time myself, but most importantly there were no missing pieces and not major damage. Just two minor scratches that you would have to look for in order to find them. Instructions are provided with all the major components clearly identified, once all put together the entire bed frame looks very study. It looks very nice in the room, though have not used it, so cant comment on sleep comfort.
