Love almost everything, but reluctantly returning it
I love the quality of the piece (real wood!) and how wonderful it looks in my living room. I am returning it for one main reason: I cant use it for the purpose I intended, which was to use the table to eat from. I cannot get the table close enough to me to comfortably eat off. If there were no bottom shelf, I could pull it closer. That is the big problem I have. Its also an inch or two short to use it to eat off, for my comfort, anyway. The minor problem I have with it is that it annoys me to have to get up, go on the other side of the table, and pull the knob to lower the table. I could have lived with that.
The positives: it looks wonderful when put together. I could not find anything comparable in quality or looks for a similar price when trying to find a replacement. The storage area doesnt have hardware that takes up much room or is in an awkward location. Except for the last two screws, it was really easy to put together. Overall, it was still quite easy. It is packaged carefully, with the consumer in mind. The styrofoam is shrink-wrapped, so you dont get all those little annoying white balls of static all over the carpet. The open storage at the bottom is a good size for a variety of containers. It is a great height to put my phone on to have hands-free video calls. Have I mentioned how good it looks?
Assembly tip: While youre waiting for your table to arrive, get yourself a straight Allen wrench. The one that comes with the table has the standard short end and long end. Even the short end is a few millimeters too long to turn the four final screws without running into the bottom of the storage space. You can twist just over 1/4 turn before you have to remove it and reposition. For at least two of the screws, you will not be able to see to do that (your head wont fit in the opening), which makes it time-consuming and annoying to have to keep repositioning. If you can find a straight Allen wrench, you will be grateful.
Bottom line: I wish it either met my pseudo-dining table needs or I could justify another use for it.
