Took me about 4 hours to put together mostly alone. I am not a handyman by any means but it is really easy to assemble, just follow the instructions and double check youre putting the correct parts together/ some of them look very similar but if you pay attention you will be fine. Assembly is easy, theres just a lot of parts. The only problem I had is the screws for the handles (the shaped bars that will hold your mattress when in futon position) were too big and I will have to buy new ones. No creaking and it feels very sturdy. If its creaking for you I would suggest double checking your bolts/ I didnt put them in right the first time as I am not a handy person. Packaging was not damaged and all parts were there and in working order (except those screws). Welding looks fine. I find the frame to be pretty comfortable, I needed it for the extra space in my studio apartment. Not sure about futon position, but when in bed position I can sit up perfectly fine without hitting my head. Id say the top bunk is about 5 ft off the ground, Im 52 and was just barely too tall to stand straight up when I was inside assembling it. It came with all the tools I needed, except a phillips head screwdriver, but if you have the right size screws Im sure you could have figured it out.
Exactly as needed
