Not a bad bed for the price considering one of these types usually go for 850 and over. The saying goes you get what you pay for though. I had some issues with this bed but I am decently skilled with wood working so I could fix the issues myself. I will go into more details below.
Shipping and Packaging- The materials were double boxed and arrived 2 days ahead of schedule. There was a total of 4 boxes. Each box was doubled boxed. This was a good thing since each outer boxed was damaged in some way.
Instructions- There are 2 instruction books that come with this. One for the bed and one for the staircase drawers. They are very basic and can be a little confusing. Some of the parts were not labelled which was a little of a hassle. I would rate 2/5 on the instructions and labeling.
Material conditions: Most of the materials were in perfect shape. Some of the pieces on the other hand had tool marks and dents in them which was annoying but not horrible considering its for my 3 and 6 year old and they will add a lot more.. The really frustrating part was that there was some terrible quality control on a few pieces. One of the headboards didnt have a hole drilled for the wood dowel and only a partial drilling for the wood bolt. I am skilled enough drill them both so I could complete the project but something like!!that should never happen. Not for the price I am paying. The staircase rails also have 2 bolts that do not align. I can fix this myself but could be a huge issue for the everyday person who cant. I am sure my case is probably rare but 1/5 I would rate for quality checks.
Assembly- I assembled it in my daugthers bedroom since I didnt want to have to move the beds down my narrow hallway. Their room is pretty small (Could fit 2 of the beds fully assembled). I assembled the bed and staircase (minus the drawers) by myself in about 6 hours. Definitely could of cut the time down by half if I didnt have to correct some of the fittings, drill holes, better instructions etc...
Overall I would recommend the bed if you are skilled with large assembly projects. After assembly its pretty sturdy and I dont think it will fall apart anytime soon. I weigh about 160 lbs and was able to walk up the stairs and lay in the bed without it creaking. Hopefully I just happened to get a bad one and this isnt a regular occurrence for other buyers.
Not bad for the price...
