My completed entertainment center is beautiful. It is exactly what I expected. There were a few minor snags along the way, but I am satisfied with the final result. By using a composite wood the makers of this product are able to significantly reduce cost versus what you would pay with a real hardwood product. It is also lighter in weight than a true hardwood would tend to be. But there is a trade off. These materials are not as sturdy as hardwoods, so you need to take extra care during assembly. In particular I think steps 10/11 are incorrect. In step 8, wood panel 2 and steel track N are assembled, making the combined unit heavy. Step 9 calls for prepping panels 3 6. Step 10 call for connecting 3 6 to 2. It is a mistake to do that at this point. 3 6 are attached to 2 by a single screw, which can easily tear right out of the wood when you lift the unit to attach it to the base in step 11. Thats what happened to me. I contacted the seller to try and get replacements for the damaged panels, but they could only ship me an entire replacement kit. The half made TV stand sat in my living room for a week while I waited. When the replacement kit finally arrived, I catabolized it for parts. This time I installed panels 3 6 to the base first, without attaching them to 2. There is enough give in the joint between the base and 3 or 6, to allow for the attachment of 2 after those two panels are in place. Just be gentle. There is a crosshatch that takes the weight while you are attaching. It came together much easier for me by doing it that way. When it was all done it looked quite nice. I did realize that I had installed the center shelf upside down, but Im not taking it apart now. Installing the doors was bit tricky. The wood soft. You dont want to screw and unscrew things multiple times, because that wears out the treads in the composite wood. Also, it isnt obvious from the instructions, but the runners should go on loosely, because you need to readjust their positioning to fit the track, after the doors are in place. We have over 5000 years of human evolution and were still reading hieroglyphics. Mostly it works, but a few words here and there would be helpful.
