This was affordable and sturdy, but it is essentially a bunch of lumber. We stained and sanded it because the poplar wood was a little rough (i.e. there were a few splinters here and there), but nothing a little 10mins of sandpaper didnt fix rt up. We also stained it with water based, eco-friendly stain and added a top coat. Because as another reviewer rightly warned, the wood has different colorations. If youre ok with that, then you just have to assemble.
Assembly was pretty easy for two able bodied ppl in their 30s. Def doable for one person, but the wood might be heavy for some.
Overall, its a good price and one of the sturdier beds you can buy. Were about 3wks in and it hasnt made any creaks or sounds. Id buy it again, maybe with a headboard next time. I would just treat it as a fun project if you want to make it part of the room.
