Surprisingly high quality — glad I didnt try to make my own
Last week, I found a decent how-to on Instructables to make a platform bed frame. I went to Home Depot and Lowes and bought all the lumber I needed. For two XL twins, the cost came to about 170. I quickly realized how much longer it would take to make my own bed frames. The cost to buy two of these XL twin bed frames was almost exactly double the cost of lumber/screws/stain/sandpaper. I also realized that my finished frames wouldnt look as polished as buying them.
And... I... was... CORRECT. These bed frames are high quality. The poplar is a ton better than the fir 2x4s and white pine 1x4s I bought. Easy to assemble, looks great, everything is sanded really well. Arrived undamaged. 5 year warranty. The wood grain is really pretty. Dang. Glad I ended up splurging and just buying them instead of making them.
