    Sturdy, attractive, but heavy

My Nomad Queen size bed platform was very easy to assemble. The assembled platform is strong and does not squeak or jiggle. I stained my platform before assembly with Watco med Danish oil. Staining was trickier than i anticipated, but areas of unevenness gradually disappeared and Im now glad that i stained. Some platform beds have slats that are slightly bowed, giving the mattress an added bit of spring, but this platform uses flat slats. I bought 4, 2 wheeled casters and attached them to the legs, so that I can wheel the platform and mattress away from the wall when I change sheets. This worked for me, and was one reason i bought a wood platform; but attaching the casters was iffy. The one negative thing about the platform is the weight - it is extremely heavy. However, when moving the platform, the weight can be reduced by almost 1/2 by removing the slats (which can be lifted away without a tool). By the way, the wood is not poplar, but tulip poplar, which is denser and far stronger than poplar.
