Solid, functional and worth every penny.

This review is based on our goal to get our 2.5 year old Daughter an inexpensive set. I did not want to spend a mint on a toddler set that would be used 8-12 years and we would not have to worry about damage over time. We bought this from a local furniture store, but the reviews here helped us choose and I wanted to return favor. The set is great for the money. We bought the Headboard, Storage bed and 6 drawer dresser. PUTTING TOGETHER: TIME - After you put it together you will remember why furniture already put together costs many hundred more. Each item took me 1.5-2.5 hours each. I started at about 5:00 and finished just after midnight with small breaks. TIPS - They say to not use a power drill, but I did and would say it is a must. I would recommend turning the tension all the way down on the drill so not to over drill something. I took a pic of some of my extra parts. There are a few from each item. Dont worry if you have some. IMPRESSED: I started with the headboard, then bed and finished with dresser. This was a plan that worked out well for the hardest item (dresser) to complete a bit faster. What I was most impressed with is everything lined up, and the drawers for the dresser had a slick way to put together very easy. QUALITY: FINISH - The laminate is great looking, but can easily be chipped on the edges. The bed chipped off a little when my daughter climed into the bed, but will be covered by blankets when made. DURABILITY - The finished product is sturdy and way more than I expected. I was a little nervous on the dresser as I could not hammer the 30 nails into the cardboard backing since it was after midnight and the house was sleeping. The picture with drawers crooked was without the backing and it was wobbly. The next morning I finished the backing and I was amazed how it stabilized the unit. The dresser had me at over 220 with my daughter on it without a mattress and it is solid. SECRET TIPS: For those that complain of the drawers not lining up they did not turn the page on directions 2 more pages. There is a slick screw to turn after you install that allows you line them up. I would save you some time and just start out with the head of the screw at the bottom of the hole in the rail. This is where all of mine ended up. To adjust all you do is pull the drawer out 1/2 way turn the screw to liking and tighten. Put this together in a room with lots of room to sprawl. I would have gone nuts with all the items in a confined space. As you can see in pics the stuff can be a bit overwhelming. It does go together faster than you think unless you think you can do it in less than 2 hours
