The bed is very sturdy, for a lighter size person. I do not think my 5 year old could break it, easily (but she is five, so there is always a way)
Construction is solid, seems like MDF for the internal pieces and actual wood for the drawer fronts. At this price point, the bed is extremely well made.
The wood and or MDF was all cut equally, no rough edges or bad finishing. Usually at a lower price point, I would expect that, but was surprised that there were no problems.
I must mention this bed weighs at least 140 lbs. This is not a 1 person install. Unless you lift, bruh.
I also must mention that there are 16 pages of relatively clear instructions... I do not mean Ikea style ideograms and pictographs... these are like intense step 1 through 599 instructions. I appreciate that, but it took my fiance and I 3.5 hours of time, $37 of Chinese food, and about 1 1/3 bottles of wine to complete this. I almost tapped out.
Tools needed include 2 hammers, 2 philips screwdrivers - instructions call for 1 of each, but as I pointed out, do not attempt this install alone!
Also, there are little attempts at humor in the instructions which made me laugh (or cry, idk, I did mention wine and chinese food right)... kinda worth it, just for the jokes in the instructions. Also, we got a pretty nice bed as well.
If this lasts a solid year, I will upgrade review to 5 star.
Very pleased, solid construction and affordable
