Way better construction and material over the COBANA Grill Gazebo 8by 5Outdoor Patio Backyard BBQ
I had purchased the COBANA Grill Gazebo 8by 5Outdoor Patio Backyard BBQ Grill Shelter Double Tiered Soft Canopy Top with Steel Frame and Bar Counters, Gray about a year or so ago on and was disappointed on the quality and materials used. Thin steel, flimsy frame and cheesy hardware. I guess you get what you pay for 109.00 I was thinking of purchasing another only because it would be a temporary canopy since were having the back yard done next year, and didnt want to spend the money on something more expensive only to use it for 1 season.
The shipping would have been 40.00, so rather that spend that on shipping, I increased my budget and found this canopy, which might be from the same manufacturer. What a difference in material and construction.
The upper supports, seemed a little thicker, were welded better in all areas. The main frame was definitely better quality and it would handle wind a lot better. The assembly was easier with T screws, no special tools required, but some of the handles spun freely after tightening them, so I removed the plastic T and used some epoxy to set the threads.
It came together nicely, about 30/40 minutes total assembly time once you read through the instructions
The upper canopy was way easier to install with adjustable ends. No fighting to get the canopy on the frame and worrying about tearing the corner or put a hole somewhere. The velcro type fasteners are line up nicely and have just enough give so if a stiff breeze was blowing, it wouldnt tear the fabric.
The lights that accompany the canopy are useless. They sit on top of the canopy support bars and offer no real illumination other than to attract bugs. Better off getting one designed for a patio umbrella and using the center drop down hook.
Overall very happy with this selection, and I wont have to worry about going through this summer without any shade
