The bed looks great, the wood is a very knotted pine, being said once in a heated home it will crack and of course I have those cracks on the most weight bearing part the middle. Cracks occurred within 2 weeks and we reordered the two sides which have never arrived and its been almost 2 months when they said a month/and/a/half ago it would be here. Customer service has not got back with us I will not be purchasing a bed from Dorel again. Save the money I bought a bunk bed seven years ago from Walmart and its twice as sturdy taking apart five or six different times and moved and not once have I seen a crack.
