It was easy to assemble, it took me about 30 minutes to do in my own and it doesnt squeak at all, thats saying alot for a mom of a 6 year old boy who jumps on my bed at all times. It is higher than I had anticipated, granted I didnt look at the description I just needed something affordable and fast. Also a box spring is not needed, I had to get rid of mine but Im not conplaining this did the job that I needed it to and Im happy with it. I plan to get nice boxes to place under since space is limited in our apt
