I put this together alone and it took me about an hour. This bed frame is very sturdy and quiet. But, it is VERY high. I knew the size I was getting but didnt realize how high my bed would be once I put my 13 inch mattress on it. I almost need a step stool to get on and off easily! But there is tons of space underneath for storage.
The metal is a nice matte/textured black and not cheap looking at all. I have a hybrid memory foam mattress and this did not need a box spring.
