Umbrella has magic flying powers. It is large and gives good coverage, but needs additional adjustment rings for a fit tighter in umbrella base. I followed the recommendations for pole circumference. I purchased a 55 pound umbrella base to use this as a stand alone. The vents up top are supposed to mitigate flying or falling. Got my new stand that I could barely move, put the umbrella in and it was slightly loose. The screw to keep in place was tightened and the base and umbrella had the correct dimensions. After what I would call a small breeze, the umbrella took flight. The vents at the top do not mitigate the umbrella from flying away. This may work better if used with a sturdy glass table for extra stability. I would not use it with a lightweight table. I was able to use my old base and umbrella For years without problem as a stand alone. I plan to rig the pole for a tighter fit, but still not sure if umbrella construction will allow for stand alone use.
