Very functional. This took about 2 1/2 hours to put together (tbh not really sure how much of that time was spent watching tv that was just on in the background) but is awesome quality for the price. The shelves are pretty thick, the metal bars and gorgeous, the color is great, the only complaint I have is that the shelves are not tall enough to fit standard sized storage cubes so we bought longer short ones.
