Did lots of research, best we found to balance price and quality. This is quality, solid pine, steel beam under slats of each bed for support, rounded edges on the wood gives higher end look, quality ladder, smart dimensions very comfortable and lots of room for storage under the bed (laundry baskets fit perfect). When you try to shake this bed it doesnt move (the $400 ones we saw in stores wobbled a lot). Husband assembled in one hour with no help. If we get new mattresses we will get slim one for twin on top just for piece of mind, but regular (not pillow top) twin bed on top is fine to prevent rolling off. My kids find it fun and cozy to sleep in.
This was difficult to construct. After less than six months of use it developed a longitudinal crack in the foot board and we discarded it due to safety issues. weight for top bunk was approx 160. Ad said up to 400 lbs safe.

Great bed!!! Only took about two hours to assemble, and the instruction manual was also easy to understand. Even though its made for younger kids, my sister and I who are older teens can still fit in this bed. Its definitely sturdy!! My only complaint would be that the ladder tends to fall off at times. It would be nice if there was a way to permanently attach it to the bed. Other than that, the bed may have been a bit expensive but it was really worth the buy.

My grandsons love their new beds in the lake house bunk room. They are sturdy the design is exactly what I wanted w/the ladder built directly into the side. They take up less room this way plus the fact that they each hold 400 lbs per bed. An adult could actually use these beds if necessary which is just an added benefit.
Unfortunately, we could only give 2 stars on the assembly instructions as it was only printed w/pictures which made it more difficult to finish the beds. It took 4 adults about 4-5 hours to put both sets of bunks together. Granted the 2nd one went quicker as the 1st one took much longer to decipher using only pictures.
The finished product is great we highly recommend it but go back to the drawing board see if you can improve your directions!
Bought this bed for my son because my sister recently bought it for her daughter, and we love it! Giving it 4 stars because even though we are prime members, it took 2 weeks to receive it because the first bed sent to us got lost in transit. Also the wood slats under the mattress arent as sturdy as I think they should be.

Love the style, easy to assemble but a piece of wood came damaged with a scratch we had to color in with dark brown permanent marker.
