Good desk for the price. Exactly the right size for my needs.
The desk top pieces dont fit together perfectly, and the pre/drilled holes dont line up completely. But for the price I paid these are very minor flaws (nothing structural, just cosmetic) that I would happily accept.
Desk arrived well packaged. Postal service damaged box slight, but the packaging protected the content just fine. No damage to the item.
Assembly instruction is very clear and easy to follow. But implementing the instructions is not trivial. While it is possible to assemble desk with one person, the first two or three steps are very difficult if you dont have a second pair of hands.
(In spite of what the instructions say, though, you do need a pair of pliers and a Phillips screwdriver for the final step; the screw for the X shaped support bar is not one you can turn using the included hex key.)
Note: do follow instructions from company and do not overtighten the screws. When assembling, if you go slowly you can see the tubings starting to deform if you tighten screws too much. Stop, and dont turn more.
Also, it is worth repeating some other reviewers that one should be careful with the screws to attach desktop to frame. Overtightening those screws will also result in unsightly bulges showing on the desktop. For those: go slow and have another person look at it while you screw. There is a fine line between just right and too tight.
To start, the box I received this desk in was a very damaged condition. But, after opening the box the parts seemed to be in good condition except for scuff marks on the legs, and some odd pink powder on two of the footrest bars. This next part is where my biggest complaint comes in. I searched the whole box and all of the components for the screws and tools but couldnt find ANY of them. My package came with NO screws This got me so frustrated because I had to start school in two days. So, I had to drive to my Lowes AND Home Depot (40 minutes there and back), since either one didnt have all the necessary ones, to get all of the screws and stuff. I spend probably around two hours to get the materials, from driving and looking for the exact screws. The reason I had to get them and not wait for the seller to ship new ones is that I had school starting and couldnt wait. It was a Friday, so I wouldve probably had to wait until Monday for the seller to ship the screws out, no time for that.
After I got home, the installation took about an hour (definitely a lot easier with someone helping you). The only really confusing part was the lower bar A, lower bar B. and upper bar. Also, 100 need to use the online instruction guide to install this desk. The paper one was just too complicated To note, the seller did refund me a portion of the order of the amount I spent on the screws.
After installed I had a few problems, the desk was a lot skinnier than I thought it would be. Having my ultrawide on the edge of my desk seems to work out, but personally wider wouldve been better. And I shouldve measured before getting it so it is my fault. The second problem is that the middle piece, the one shaped like a diamond, is a bit higher than the side pieces So, the desk is not level and my keyboard wobbles every time I type. Very annoying. Especially if you plan to write on it. I attached a photo of the unleveled. To add to that, no matter how hard I try, I cannot seem to get no gap between the middle piece and the side pieces.
Another thing that should be noted is that if you plan on using this desk with a monitor stand, it would be difficult to mount it on one of the side pieces since there is a metal bar and thats all you can clamp to. So, but to be safe I clamped my desk mount to the middle piece since there is enough exposed wood there too so so.
This desk isnt all negatives. I think the finish looks very nice and it functions as a desk. But, are all of the small negatives still worth it Personally, I dont think so. I would return this desk if I didnt have to disassemble it. With school starting, I have no time.
Overall, its an OK desk You can get it, but you risk getting one with no screws or a middle piece thats raised higher than the side pieces.
UPDATE (9/2/20):
The seller was quick to fix their mistake and contacted me after he/she had seen my negative experience. They were very nice and apologized for the inconvenience. Then, we agreed on a way to have a mutually beneficial trade. I am very happy with the customer service and their response time. Im glad that this seller cares about their customers!
This desk is great! I received an email from the company making sure I receive all the correct parts and with additional electronic copies of the instruction manual before the desk arrived. Exceptional service. Received all the correct parts, took ~ 45 min for 2 people to put together, pretty straightforward instructions. Theres a slight gap between the corner board and one of the side tables due to warp in the wood, but otherwise seems sturdy and exactly as advertised!
Love this desk. It was super easy to put together, the instructions were easy to read. I love all the space it has and its definitely sturdy if put together the right way. Absolute LOVE!
Its a nice desk. I like the look of it. I would note that for someone on the shorter side (5ft) the desk is a little high (even with a desk chair that raises and lowers), and so you might need a key board tray to type at a lower level. I didnt think this was a big deal/ except that the white bar in front of the desk makes it very difficult to find a keyboard tray that will work and then install once you find one. I also think the desk is a little narrow, and if you are using a large monitor, you are almost too close to type without a keyboard tray. If you arent short and are only using a laptop, this is a great desk.
