We bought the bed and the matching under/bed drawers. Everything fit together very nicely. Parts are numbered and marked L and R to make assembly easier. Holes lined up, screws fit. The drawers fit perfectly under the bed. I am extremely sensitive to odor, and there really wasnt much of a smell. This is made of solid wood, not particle board. We bought 1/4 inch plywood to put over the slats to support the mattress. The slats may be spaced a bit far apart, but we didnt try the bed with just the slats so I cant say for sure. We used 8 moderately firm mattresses, decent quality. They work very well on this bed. I am impressed with the way the bed and drawers were carefully planned, labeled and manufactured. One trick that made assembly easier / put the top lip of the piece which holds the white slats that make up the front and back of the bed on the floor with the holes facing up. Insert the slats and then put the bottom piece on while its still upside down. It helps if someone holds one end to keep the slats in place while someone else guides the slats into position. Hold on tightly to the top and bottom when you flip it over. That was the only tricky part of the entire assembly. My granddaughter was extremely pleased with her new bed. I feel we made a good choice, and would recommend this bed to others. I am going to look for a Max and Lily dresser next.
This bunk bed was easy to put together, it took less than 2 hours from opening the box and bringing everything in the house to the kids climbing in to check it out. It could be done alone but team work makes it much easier to hold things right. We were surprised on how all the drilled holes lined up perfectly. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. We had no extra parts and all pieces were labeled well.
The bed feels very sturdy. I have already been on the top bunk with my 8yo. There is no extra movement or shifting. It is solid wood throughout and none of the pieces were cracked or warped.
There is plenty of room under the bed to add storage. My 4yo was hanging out under it quite a bit until we put 3 under bed bins below it. Even with the 3 bins, there is room to add shoes or other small items to store.
While we are using it as bunk beds right now, we are happy that it will only take a couple screws to change it into two twin beds.

I saw this exact bed at Macys on sale for 450 and nearly bought it. Something made me check / 260! It arrived quickly. The box is smaller than you would expect but very heavy. Everything was there. I recommend you do what my engineer daughter did which was unpack the box, inventory everything and label the parts. And follow the written instructions. It took the better part of a day to assemble but she and my husband got it done. Very nice set of bunk beds. Well made and sturdy. One thing to watch for when buying bunk beds is what is the weight capacity. A lot of them we looked at had a weight capacity of 110 lbs. per bed and that included the mattress. This one has a weight capacity of 250 lbs. per bed which is great if you have teens staying over and so forth. Or your child uses them as twin beds and takes them to college down the road. Also advise using a mattress that is no more than 9 deep.

Some part has small damage. You know. It was so hard to return, so I applied for a replacement. It was easy. This is good.

Cute and Sturdy!
Extremely sturdy, strong enough for an adult to lay on. Very cute and perfect for my child who is transitioning to a twin.
